Hi all,

Thought I'd ask on here as I've been unable to find what I'm looking for.

Essentially we're redoing the garden and going to have lights and a water feature. So I'm looking for either a smart outdoor socket or switch that I can connect them to and then control via App/Alexa.

I've had a look at not really seen anything that fits the bill. Answers on a postcard....

How are you getting power to them? Immediate thought would be to put the smart switch indoors e.g. in the garage or wherever the power feeds from, or to put it in an IP-rated enclosure outside.

I have a Powerline wifi access point on the deck in an IP enclosure, works fine.

What's wrong with the items all over Amazon?

You could stick them in a waterproof box if necessary.

I use Meross kit - Alexa compatible but I don’t use that .
It’s housed in a waterproof connector box
I use it for a pool filter - have an on-screen controller like this

I’ve recently done this and it’s doable, but not quite as easy as it ought to be.

I wanted a Lightwave RF single switch (as we have LW inside), outside, in a waterproof enclosure.

I ended up buying a BG enclosure with a membrane front, then filing down bits of the enclosure interior and bits of the plastic switch faceplate (I had to discard the Alu faceplate cover) to get a good and consistent seal between the membrane and the enclosure once the switch was clamped down. I also had to use some spacers behind the switch’s faceplate as it is so much thinner than what the enclosure came with.

It took the best part of a morning of fitting, cutting and filing, but it works.
