Is this a new car ?
I was told when I picked mine up that the coolant level would drop as all the air trapped in the new engine worked it's way out. This was normal and just to top back up with water. That would be pure distilled as you would use for batteries etc.
If this is more than that, yes contact the dealership.

Not new but 10,000 km on the clock. The message appeared when the car was sitting on a steeper driveway so it could be a sensor being confused. But it was parked there quite a few times before without any "low coolant" message. The message is now gone but it gave me an impulse to search for the engine coolant just to have a backup bottle.

As you know, the handbook cunningly says speak to your dealer regarding coolant requirements. It does mention needing 29.7 litres of it though (used for the transmission also).I've left a message with a friend who knows the AE31 engine quite well, will hopefully report back later

Look in your manual > Specifications > Fluids & Capacities > Engine Coolant (it will tell you the spec of the recommended coolant and the mix ratio.)Quick update about the coolant issue with V12 Twin-turbo Engine (AE31):
Roughly at 10,000 km on the clock, my car (DBS Superleggera MY20) has developed a syndrome of disappearing coolant. The interval depends on the outside temperature and driving style. I have to top up coolant every 600 - 2,000 km. 600 km in hot summer combined with hard driving.
The authorized service did a pressure test twice, no leaks. The cooling system was tested for possible blown head gasket, again no issue was found. Now the expansion tank is going to be replaced.
Any DB11/DBSS owner with the same issue?

Christ, is it a Merlin? Just an update about the low coolant issue of the AE31 engine. The good news is the service department has found the issue, after almost two years and numerous tests. The bad news is that the car needs a new engine. One intercooler has a micro-crack, which caused a small coolant leak into the intake (just one bank). The engine is now totaled as no one can guarantee the status of pistons, rings, rods, and bearings. I am waiting for a new one.
