Private cataract operation

What options are there? My Mums on the NHS waiting list, but it may make sense to speed things up.

Which consultant she uses might depend on where she is in the country. Essentially you search for someone reputable to perform the operation & book an appointment with them for assesment. It costs in the region of £2000-£3000 per eye. Most places do one eye at a time although some do both eyes on the same day. It's not painful (usually) & the results can be excellent.

My wife just had her other eye done and a new lens at Moorfields, I can give you details if you want. Supposedly one of the top surgeons in the world, luckily we have private health care cost £1,500 for the lens which is superior to the standard one. Rest of op paid for by insurance. Only problem is that if it there is an issue, we have to pay for corrective surgery insurance won't help due to lens upgrade. In and out in 6 hours the second time due to cv19.

My dad had his done on the NHS, but both were done privately by Spire anyway. One on a Sunday afternoon!

Are you in Derby? I had mine done at the Park Hospital Nottingham. About £2.5k per eye all in. I was really impressed with the consultant and the whole process. Can dig out his name if that would help...

I had one eye done privately last April and the other under NHS in Jan this year.

Very similar experiences, care and after treatment. Same surgeons and operating theatre. Only difference was I could jump the queue.
