Perhaps that's why Hamilton hasn't signed yet (as far as I can tell)?

They're the only team to turn a profit from racing in F1, so maybe with the financial aspect of this new agreement meaning that may not happen in future, it may be a harder sell to the shareholders to keep competing.

Or it's just a strong arm tactic to force F1 in to giving them a better deal.

And rightly so. It’s about time all this favouritism towards Ferrari was canned. Why they have an overriding vote on everything as well as financial benefits is beyond comprehension. Would F1 really collapse without them. I don’t think so. Others would supply engines. They would still have to build there own chassis etc. But F1 would continue. Now where would Ferrari be without F1.

Think of all the development Ferrari have done using F1 money that has ended up on there road cars. No F1 where would all that development money come from.

I’m amazed with all the advantages they have (secret deals about there engines etc) they have managed to do such a piss poor job for the last decade.

Tbf it's quite entertaining watching them constantly screw up race wins & championships despite having at times the fastest car (not the most legal though scratchchin) and the biggest budget. But yeah, it's a complete load of st they get a ton of money just for turning up - day one of the season everyone starts with 0 points, what does that say to newcomers and midfielders? 'We'll tolerate you, but we'd rather everyone was Ferrari'.... that's why they get away with cheating (and they still can't win hehe)

Its been that way for at least the last 50-60yrs. It’s part of the circus and the narrative. Ferrari only ever sporadically dominate in patches, the rest of the time they are invariably put in their place by innovating British teams. Or Mercedes.

Also Toto and Mercedes(Daimler) now own a chunk of Aston Martin along with Mr Norris, so maybe a removal of Mercedes but run as an Aston Works team?

Not soon... But I do think Daimler, stroll and Toto have something of a shared plan for AM as both a car firm and F1 team.

Don't know why everyone gets so riled up about the Ferrari payments. Other teams get historic payments too. Not as much but then they haven't been the only team that has stuck with F1 from day one. Ferrari is still a massive draw as far as the fanbase goes. Even Mercedes aren't disputing why Ferrari get that money.

Problem for me with Mercedes position is that they appear to be saying they should get more because one of their drivers is the biggest name in F1. Well what if he retires or goes elsewhere? It should be based on what the team brings not what drivers they happen to have at the moment.

I think the idea of Ferrari having "stuck with" F1 is part of the problem, making it sound as though Ferrari have selflessly & at great personal cost done F1 a huge favour. Ferrari would probably not still exist without F1 & their entire "mystique" is almost entirely down to their motorsport history, a huge part of which is F1. Arguably F1 has done as much, if not more, for Ferrari than Ferrari has done for F1. The rules should be the same for everyone. The rules veto & shady sweetheart deals are completely unacceptable, if you want to come & play, these are our rules, the same for everyone, take it or leave it. Just my Ten penneth. smile

Well then they'd be wanting financial recognition for stuff they've done in the past. Just like Ferrari. You see?
