Hello, I’ve been kicking around the PH forums for possibly 20 odd years now. I have just bought a GTR, not the sensible decision but one made from the heart as I cannot ride bikes anymore. I’m in the UK and hope to meet a few fellow owners, get out on the odd track day etc (UK).

I had a few questions if anyone could guide me, I have been searching information for sometime and still haven’t found the answers and I thought it’s the right time to let myself be known.

I’ve today stumbled across a few Ultimas with front end modifications. After searching I believe they were the work of Steve Smith. There is mention of him a number of times but contact details seem to only pass through PM’s. Does anyone know if he still does this sort of work? If so could anyone give me an idea of the price and how to contact him please?

For what information I’ve found, tyres seem to be becoming more difficult to source. I saw a few cars with Toyo 888 but these seem to have been discontinued for some time now. Ultima only stock Pirelli’s. I currently have Michelin’s fitted, but again am struggling to find any in the right size. What do people run? Mine will be used on the road and track.

I’d also like to get a good outside cover for it for odd occasions i take it away with me. Can anyone recommend anything?

Thanks, Justin

Welcome to the forum and Ultima ownership.
Steve was producing a number of changes to the car but that was before he joined forces with the Factory to produce the the latest models. Now he is part of Ultima I doubt he will continue doing one off changes.

Welcome to the club! On tyres in the UK the standard 18 inch sizes front and back are only readily available from Pirelli. P zero Rosso and P Zero Corsa. Corsa slightly more expensive but better on track. I fitted some just over a year ago and they are way better than the Good Years. Though my Good Years were getting old. As far as I could tell no other tyre brand does both fronts and rears in the exact sizes. Michelin seem to have stopped producing the PS2.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve stayed away from Facebook for 2 odd years and don’t miss it. I’ll have to make an exception in this case, just use it as a forum type thing only.

It seems that the newer toyo r888r is available but in the states.

I can see Pirellis on tyre leader, the P zero corsa is £150 more each for the rears than the Rosso. There is a p zero system asimmetrico at a mid price between the two but don’t know much about them.

I do need something that is good for 700bhp plus but perhaps I’ll get an idea from the Michelin’s by the times it comes to change them. Has anyone ever looked at a 18” front 19” rear? I’ve read the gtr rubs etc with 19’s.

in track having semislick makes a huge BIG difference with the road. and in the gtr even more. if you mount road tires you will find yourself with a gtr that you do not fully exploit in track
