The car had uprated turbo inlet hoses fitted when I had the turbos rebuilt last year. I opened the bonnet just to see how things were under there (haven't opened it for a while), only to find what looks like a breather hose came off the front turbo inlet hose, but bizarrely noticed insulation tape wrapped around it clearly looking like its meant to restrict the flow, any ideas as to why PMP would have done that? Unless its just came off this morning at some point, I haven't noticed any difference with anything

LOL I gathered that, talking about stating the obvious, i did say that in my post, but to what ends?? what would doing that achieve if anything? what were they trying to cover up or improve? I did take the tape off and re attach the hose and give the car a good blast and I couldn't feel much difference really, but I'll keep you posted on that one

I work on brand new cars, and a few of the hoses have blanking plugs fitted, depending on which market the vehicle is going to.
Looks like you’ve got a universal hose, where your variant of engine and emission requirements, don’t require that output.
Not sure if that helps or not
Yes good point, but if there was a blanking on the original OEM intake hose, then there would be no need for a hose attached to it would there? (meaning the breather hose that is attached to it) there would be a blanking on the intake hose then that's it. the breather hose that comes off it seems to go back into the system somewhere I think and that is the OEM hose. I'll call PMP tomorrow to see what was going on. surely BMW would not put on a breather hose at their expense if there is no need for one if its blanked off at source, if you follow... even I'm struggling a bit now. I'll check tomorrow to see if the rear one has been taped up the same before I call. I was just looking for a bit of an insight before I started moaning at them for bodging something or indeed improving something. They seemed to do a fine job so curious as to why tape something like thatLooks like you’ve got a universal hose, where your variant of engine and emission requirements, don’t require that output.

yeah, there is an OEM breather hose that comes of the intake pipe, I'm sure that same breather hose would have came off the OEM intake pipe too..... Now I say breather hose, I assume it is, but even so, PMP seem to want to tape it over, like I said, I'll check if the back one has been done too tomorrow
Update x2, PMP replied and gave me 2 suggestions.. 1the tape was there to repair the breather, or it was on there originally so they put on the new intake hose.... so even more confused now, he clearly couldn't remember my car so that was the 2 0ptions he was thinking of, but I'm still puzzled as to what ends someone would block off just the front breather? oh well
