Hi all,

I am looking into buying an MK6 GTIi.

I have just found a good deal but I have heard that tire tread issues are something to look out for.

This car has passed all the MOT’s but one. This was due to

“Nearside Front Tyre has a bulge, caused by separation or partial failure of its structure (4.1.D.1b)”

It’s also had some advisories on tires being worn to the legal limit and also the breaking pads being worn to near legal limit.

The car has 110k miles on it so I am wary of the reliability and how it’s been treated before.

The inside seems good from the outside and the also from the inside.

Any advice is appreciated

Tyres need replacing on all cars at some point. Many owners never check them and just replace when told to at MoT or service time.
That MoT history wouldn’t worry me.

So its hit a pothole and has worn brakes, there are plenty of things to worry about when buying an old Golf and none of them will be picked up on an MOT.

The MOT itself wouldn't worry me.
