My Tuscan needs new front shocks (current ones leaking).

I've been quoted a fitted price for Nitron shocks all round which seems reasonable-ish, however I was under the impression that the Nitron upgrade was a shocks and springs package, yet I have been quoted a price that includes re-using my old springs.

So...questions:

1. Should it be a shocks and springs package?
2. How much should I be paying for the parts?
3. How much have people paid for fitting?
4. Anybody with Nitrons insured by Direct Line?

The Nitrons are a damper + spring package. Usual price around £950 + VAT. Allow around 5 hours labour for fitting, say £250+VAT. Some places may charge more, but for full benefit they may include a geometry check up and set.

Cannot help you on the insurers side of things. I guess it may pay to play safe and inform them. However, I consider tyres, exhausts, dampers and brake discs/pads to be consumables and therefore they offer a potential upgrade/alternative over OEM. Its down to you to decide.

I never told DL/Privelege about mine as I considered them a replacement item rather than an upgrade. They had no problems with my claim last year, part of which was having a front unit repaired by Nitron.
