In light of the current BLM / MSM type narrative that all black people are victims, all have the same values and opinions and that Britain is institutionally racist, a new group has been formed by Inaya Folarin Iman to provide a counter message - their "values" are below.

I watched the first online debate featuring Helen Pluckrose, Trevor Philips, Ayishat Akanbi, Inaya, Dr Remi Adekoya and Katherine Birbalsingh and for the first time in a long time felt excited that there is the beginnings of a pushback and that there are many in the so called BAME communities who refute the BLM narrative.

FYI - I have no connection with this group and am merely sharing what I've seen.

Take a look and see what you think.

Our Values
The content of your character, not the colour of your skin.
The Enlightenment. Reason, intellectual ambition and curiosity.
Freedom of thought and speech. To tell the truth, even if it offends others.
Open and robust debate.

Yes, the debate was really interesting and they have several more coming up.

Some of of what Katherine Birbalsingh said about education and particularly the way history is taught were surprising and worrying. It's no wonder that many kids are so easily influenced when they don't have the benefit of a proper grounding in British history.

Dr Remi was also really entertaining and talked about his experiences of growing up in Nigeria and then living in Poland (he's half Nigerian, half Polish) compared with living in the UK.

Smiler.

Will have a listen to this, thanks. Birbalsingh speaks some real sense of many of the hot topics of today. Nimco Ali is another. They are passionate about what they believe, but temper it with an apparent calmer outlook.

I do like Birbalsingh. She seems to be one of few who look for solutions and progress rather than excuses and self-pity.

I read an article by John McWhorter and then explored his work a little more. I really like what he has to say.
Someone needs to take the narrative back from the idiots and militants and I hope this group can do that.

Thanks for posting that. I found it an interesting listen...well only an hour in so far.

It was refreshing to see the topic discussed in a balanced manner and without the usual approbrium.

Certainly food for thought.

Just a pity that as a group it doesn't have more political traction at the cross party level. They speak a lot of sense

Yes, hopefully they will get more prominence on MSM and the message will begin to filter out.

I may be wrong, living in my own little bubble, but I think that many people of all colours are very unhappy with the current MSM/BLM narrative and are looking for a counter argument. I could be entirely wrong and maybe people just don't care if it doesn't impact on their daily lives.

Personally, I think that it's a fad or trend and that in not too long the next burning issue will come along for certain sections of the community to get triggered by.

We will see, but this project is certainly a step in the right direction.
