67.5 bhp more - wot hav U done to me car, Austec?!
Discussion
Left the Cerbera at Austec for 2 weeks while I was away on a trip, and picked it up yesterday afternoon. Had Avos installed in all corners, an ACT induction kit and a chip & remap.
Gained 67.5bhp at the wheels!
It's a completely different car. No spotting & sticking in low revs, pulls like a train at any revolution in any gear. Before the car sounded like it was going to fall apart at 6000rpm. No it powers past no problem....
The Avos make the car feel so well planted on the road. The steering wheel does not jerk in your hand when you go over bumps like it used to, and handling is far superior.
It's almost as if I have a new car!
Don't know what I have been missing for such a long time!
And the pops and bangs are better than ever!
Thanks Paul and the team for all the work you have done on the car! And to the lovely Alex for chatting to me while I waited (im)patiently for the car to be finished yesterday!
Only down side is I knackered the ligaments in my right ankle last night while playing footie. So driving may not be so easy for a few days....!

Couldnt agree more. Had mine finely tuned this week and you cannot describe how much better it is driving the car afterwards - smooooooooooth.
Unfortunately timed as I have had to put the car up for sale as the Missus Rich has put her foot down on buying a new place (Coming to a pistonheads classified near you soon).
Which cerb was yours as I was at Austec on Tuesday afternoon?

Hi Rich
Sorry to hear you have to sell yours. Especially after you no doubt spent a few of your hard earned on sorting it out. Still, money well spent for resale, I hope!
Mine was the S-reg Imperial Blue one with the cream interior.

Yeah nice motor - hope they cleaned it for you! I think you may have snuck into the background on one of the pics Ive put on the ad!

What was your final output figure? Which engine do you run? I think had 327bhp (390bhp at fly), with 335lbft torque, and Paul tells me its still the most powerful 4.2 theyve seen. See:

Nope, that's not mine! There was another Imperial Blue one there. Mine does not have orange side repeaters. Mine are white.
I now have 350 at the wheels. I doubt you owuld have 390 at the flywheel would you? That's a hell of a drop. Paul said usually it is between 35-45 bhp loss, mine showing a loss of 32.6bhp, so making it 382.6 at the flywheel.
Torque is not as impressive as I had expected at only 317.4 (up from 303.5), but as you see, the engine was running like a dog before Paul fettled it! 282.5bhp at the road now up to 350.
I am looking into replacing the springs and dampers too. I am not into track days and the advice I have had so far is to stick to the "uprated" existing TVR supplied parts. Otherwise the ride quality with AVOs or Nitrons would just be too harsh on the road?
Wondered what Diddyman/others thought?
Pleased about the bhp increase for Diddyman as ours (a 4.5) put out 353 bhp on the Surrey Rolling Road earlier this year and Jo, my wife (and it's her car really!) came over all competitive. She wanted us to have it chipped/mapped there and then! She wants this done asap after the damper change!

I had AVO's all round and a full wheel algnment done in January and to say the car was transformed is an understatement. No tramlining, loads more (positive) feedback from the road, no steering wheel wobble over bumps, just more 'planted' in general. The ride around town, I'd say is no harsher than the originals, but it does depend how many clicks you turn to 'hard'. IMHO well worth the money.

Hi Paul
I'll echo Rob's words. I am not into track days either, but the Avos make the car so much bettre in every respect. God knows why TVR didn't use them in the first place, tightwads! They do not make the ride harsh; in fact I think it is much more comfortable as you are not being clattered across every lump and bump, and the steering wheel stays in the place you intended it to be, instead of beeing snatched left & right by the aforementioned lumps & bumps. Right Rob?!
Having had the chip, remap & induction pipoes (I needed new ones anyway as mine were knackered), plus the Avos, has tranformed by car by 500%. Get the Avos done - you know you want to!
Was your 353bhp at the wheels or the fly?
