Hi All -
Apologies if this is in the wrong sub-forum.
We're moving house to the countryside where the internet is OK (circa 20 MB) but significantly less than our current inner-city fibre of 150MB. At present, besides using the internet for typical computer and phone uses we stream everything from the various smart TVs and tablets around the house.
We're looking at having Sky Q at the new property which I understand can be used to also access on-demand / streamed services like iPlayer and Netflix (subject to paying for access). I'm presuming that this content is delivered via the satellite dish and receiver rather than via the internet which would reduce the contention on our connection for work use.
Anybody know?

Watching live TV = Satellite
Watching streaming services = Internet
So Netflix/Iplayer etc all uses the internet, not the dish.

How big’s the house?
Biggest problem with Sky Q is shockingly poor wireless range between the various Sky TV boxes and boosters. I think they do it deliberately to prevent people in flats being able to share a single Sky connection.
After months of trouble Sky wanted to hard wire my whole house to solve the issues, completely defeating the point of Sky Q! They eventually got the wireless working but every few months it would go crazy again and they’d have to send an engineer. Eventually I got so fed up I wrote and told them to get it working or get it out of the house. Their eventual compromise fix was to hard wire the main Sky Q box to one of the boosters about half way across the house. Seems to be working much better.
Who’s your internet provider? Sky Q is most likely to work best with Sky internet but they still don’t promise good results. Their weedy wireless is very bad at penetrating walls, floors and windows.
