High Mileage PD130

I know its been done to death but nothing too recently. So would you?

I've found a really nice 130 Bora, pictures look nice. Bodywork all straight, interior doesn't look worn at all. Only realised the mileage when reading the ad and it said 200k miles. Could be a good buy and hopefully going to view Monday. Just interested in thoughts on what others would do and if they'd just discard it based just on mileage?

Would never disregard any car based on mileage, purely buy on condition, and I expect a PD Bora isn't going to be that expensive, so I would just do the basics (history, body work, etc)

Check MOT history online, see if things have been left or fixed, usually a good sign of neglect, do all this before you see it, you'll know if it's been looked after.

1.9 PD's are pretty strong units, so 200k is pretty standard going for these, but go with you eyes and ears open, as the whole car has done 200k remember.

Its sub £1k lol just after a cheap daily but also something that's not a money pit either. It just shocked me its done that miles, and kind of put me off it. I think I'll just go with eyes wide open and make sure the sills aren't gone and the clutch & turbo aren't on last legs

Look up Car Throttle on youtube, they've got a skoda octavia (i think?) With if i remember rightly over 350k miles. Look for service history and general condition.

Bear in mind the newest Boras will be knocking on 15 years old.

From my experience of similar era VWs at 10-12 years old, the drivetrain is relatively sound, it’s the rest of the car that starts to fall apart.

Lots of niggly faults like door locks and window regulators that add up to a frustrating ownership experience

Yeah, it’s an Octavia. They’ve just sold it on though cause it wasn’t being used.
The videos are still there though of course.

Also just looked it up and it was at least 430k!

I know they go on forever but we have had 2 1.9 pd engined cars in the family with 200 k on them and both have felt very tired, both were well serviced too.
Both believed to be on the original turbos too, which would maybe explain some of the feel.
