Spinal bone spur

hi,

I've been diagnosed as having a spinalal cord bone spur up by the neck. Which is pressing onto a nerve and disc.
All starting by hand going numb and zero use of tricep just cant get the mind muscle connection. All picked up on mri.

Has anyone gone through this surgery be intrested to hear outcome and recovery times.

Surgeon is speaking about going in through front of my neck to side of wind pipe.

Surgeon sounds like they’re talking about an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF).
Pretty routine procedure on my neurosurgical list. Not too sore afterwards. Usually take about 2 hours all in, most people home the next day

Thanks guys, yes was a little shock came out the blue for someone who hasn't visited a doctors let alone hospital in over 25 years was taken back a bit tbh.

My wife had the surgery on c5/6/7 discs.We were apprehensive about going ahead with surgery ( 9 months/year physio had not resulted in any improvement for loss of strength in shoulder/arm) and we had a couple of long talks with surgeon.
He was adamant that surgery was the only solution and he was right.

Following surgery and 6 sessions of physio, within 6 months all good.

Talk it through with your surgeon but from our experience go for it.
