Hi all,

I’m considering buying a 2016 (66 plate) Jag XE R Sport with Black Pack. It has 42k mikes and full jaguar service history. The engine is the 180 bhp 2.0 diesel.

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction when viewing the car, is there anything that I should check especially?

Also, if anyone has any personal reviews on the XE R Sport that’d be great to hear.

Thanks in advance!!

I'm on the XE group on FB and diesel engine cars seem to be the ones where owners are constantly having problems. If you take the diesel versions out of the stats the XE is pretty reliable. Include the oil burners and they're down toward the bottom of the tables.

Thanks for the insight Dolf. This is indeed a diesel model, from what I’ve read the diesels seem pretty reliable! Do you know what sort of problems people are having and the age of the cars? This is a late 2016 model so i was hoping any manufacturing mishaps would’ve been eradicated by that time. I know there’s been a few issues with the 2015 models.

Thanks!

AdBlue errors seem to be the main issue. Have a Google and look on xeforums.co.uk

I had an XE twice as a hire car back in 2017, and I’ve driven about 1400 miles total between the two hires.

I’d rate the XE at the bottom of the table when compared with the 320d and C220d (also had both of these as hire cars on a few occasions) and an A4 which I had as a courtesy car when my own Audi was in for repairs.

My biggest dislike of the Jag was the engine. It felt like it took an age to get any kind of response when you put your foot down which was a problem for me on long motorway drives. I drove 2.0 diesels on each occasion.

Make sure you take it for a test drive and form your own opinion of the ride.
