I’d like a little projector to show some bed-time videos above my baby’s bed. Deep-space images, flights over clouds, that sort of thing.

I know that the cheapest thing available will likely do the job OK, but it might be nice too to be able to put up a screen in the garden and watch a film outdoors at night.

Are any of the portable projectors any good, something like the Anker Nebula, or do you really need a big main powered thing with a fan still to get something that gives an OK picture?

I’d looked at these recently, the Anker looked the best of them, although I didn’t like that all the apps and OS was tied to Android as i worried about longevity, so would prefer a standalone projector.

Apeman looked good too, but they need a lot of darkness to really work. May yet get one, my use case was camping and decided to hold off for now.

I’ve got a little Merlin Pocket Projector which I use in my lounge for films etc. as someone who has gone through this you’re biggest consideration is how noisy the projector is when running esp if it’s in a baby’s room. I suspect small projector tech has moved on in the 6-7 years since I bought mine, but mine does sound like a aircraft taking off at the best of times! You don’t hear it if you have a film on though.

Thanks.

I think that because the noise is an issue (it’ll be playing something very gentle and quiet to help him to sleep) I should try for the quietest of the tiny ones, and not worry about it being able to act as a television in the daytime.

The nebula projector is very good as it has everything build in and is way better image than the number would suggest. Only thing I would say it always look for offers as RRP is a little over the top and offers to be had.

Which of them is the one to go for? There seem to be a few.

I pondered similarly and went for the Global Version Xiaomi Mijia Projector as it's marginally brighter, has a higher resolution and a more up-to-date version of Android TV installed. I could get the extra apps installed on this version without issue through my Google Play account. Great value for money.
