High Blood Pressure Tablets

Following a home blood pressure test, the same that resulted in a reading of 171/69, I had a telephone consultation with my GP, which resulted in me being prescribed with a daily dosage of Bendroflumethiazide 2.5 mg tablets.

A follow up home blood pressure test resulted in a reading of 145/65, this, together with taking two weeks holiday vacation, and not taking the tablets with me, I have yet to take the prescribed medication.

Much to my surprise, and with some alarm, I received a telephone call from the pharmacist that i collected the tablets from, asking for my reaction from taking the tablets.

Made me a little bit reluctant to taking the tablets. My thoughts are that any follow up would come from the GP, rather than the pharmacist. So is it for the pharmacist to make a follow up call, what was the pharmacist expecting to achieve, and has any posters taken this medication, and what was their reaction, experiences with the same medication.

I'm on them. It's a diuretic. The idea is to remove salt from your blood. They appear to work within limits.

I was advised to cut down on salt intake. It's a bit of a test. My main focus is now on reading labels.
