Hi all,

I've just changed the fuel filter on my Citroen C1 2006 1.4 HDI and having changed fuel filters on cars before, I know it's not as straight forward as just starting the ignition afterwards. Can anyone offer any advice on what needs to be done after I've changed the filter?

Thank you

Alex

What engine type (and therefore fuel filter) is it?

Does it have a manual priming bulb next to the filter ?

Thanks for the response. It's a diesel engine 1.4. I can't see any manual priming bulb. Any ideas where it would be located?

pmmonline.co.uk/technical/fuel-filter-replacement-various-models/

That might help.

Assuming it is that filter type

Those are exactly the instructions I followed when changing the filter. I've replace the filter now but there doesn't seem to be fuel reaching the engine and the ignition just goes and doesn't fire it up. Any other Ideas?

If you follow the fuel pipe back from the inlet connection on the filter there should be a rubber priming bulb.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZCEsN5WlJE at about 2.30 into this. Its on a different car (c4) but I think it is the same filter or very similar.

Priming bulb is located at top left rear of engine from what i can see on a quick google, might be hidden and far back due to small engine bay.

When you have found the priming bulb, pump it with ignition ON to open the fuel shut-off valve so that the air can be purged right through the pump and pipework.

I still can't believe all the money manufacturers out into r & d
There's some engines that require so much work to prime and bleed after a filter change
