I have had some goods made in China but the company does not arrange air freight.

We do have a UPS account rarely used so for our 1st order he used this to get the shipment sent then got a bill for just under £700 for 2 boxes @ 7 KG each, granted part of that was VAT and duty but still a massive amount.

Our next order is 1 box 17KG going on UPS i can get it shipped for £130 but getting this all the way though to checkout is impossible.

Has anyone got any pointers to who can handle this

The problem with the initial cost was the fact you don't regularly use the account so don't get any volume discount.

Best bet would be to get in touch with a freight forwarder, we have one local called AFFA, they use the CSM network for distribution once in this country.

As said a freight forwarder is your best bet. Is this all you are shipping or will it be ongoing? Might be difficult to get any one interested if this is all of the volume.

I’ve found DHL most cost efficient for small shipments like that.

Your supplier will have an account and is probably easiest!

This. We use DHL for samples / small orders, local Chinese freight forwarder for the containers

One more for DHL, they are far and away the best just can be a little pricey.

Hopefully you made sure that they comply with UK ruling.

Rates are currently falling - currently around $7 per KG via Fedex.

Most couriers will be fine with that
Bigger weights use a forwarder
