Ibiza PD130 daily!

This must be my best motoring bargain ever. 6spd PD130 TDi sport
Bought from a friend of a friend for a whole £150

150k miles- still does 55mpg.
Will need rear tyres & front ARB D-bushes for MOT but it’s otherwise solid.
Will look very presentable after a clean up. Going to do some invest for any boost leaks & then treat it to a cheap generic remap for 165hp/280lbs/ft. Great fun on a budget!
Already ordered some less scabby centre caps, gear gaiter, front mudflaps & fog light surround for buttons.
New Painted pax wing to follow (previous repair has rusted). It’ll never be a minter, but a few fettles will have it looking very tidy....

Had one of these 10 years ago. Least reliable car I've ever had, but think I must have just been unlucky as they're known to be very strong.
It had so much torque though it was hilarious, and ferried me from East Sussex to York University regularly whilst returning great fuel consumption.
For £150 can't go wrong.

Thanks all!
Yes for £150 & with a known history I figured I couldn’t go far wrong.
Loads of torque, not a lot of weight & cheap/easy to maintain.
Dad had one of the very first mk1 110Tdi Leon’s in the country & that did 190k easily. Solid, frugal & Surprisingly decent to drive- thus couldn’t really say no!

This one won’t win any concours for sure- but being honest it really isn’t too bad to look at. Just needs a bit of TLC
NSF wing needs replacing (previous repair has rusted) and a crease in the pax door il see if I can get straightened but otherwise very straight.
Alloys have seen better days but still acceptable!
I’ve also splashed out on some new interior mats, a replacement cup holder, Haynes manual, headlight polishing kit & a Bluetooth adapter for the OEM cd stereo.
Il get a litre of brake fluid, adjust the handbrake properly & treat it to a bleed and then it’ll be good to go!
These VAG TDi’s are incredibly hardy of course- I went on a work trip to Athens last year & the city centre was FULL of yellow Octavia TDi taxi’s. One cab I jumped in had 650k miles on it & was still running perfectly well!!
Il avoid any launches & over stressing the clutch & flywheel & it should prove solid & dependable

I have a little stash of bits ready to fit now:
Drinks holder, Bluetooth receiver for the stock Alana headunit, a fog light surround, new mats, gear gaiter & an 02M gearbox shim kit. (Previous owner reported some 1st gear transmission whine)...
Passenger wing left to source- can get them new off eBay painted for £95- I’m just unsure about colour match- but then on a daily beater I guess it’s not too important!

Looks great value. My PD115 pulls so incredibly well in first and second I can only assume it's had some sort of map. Sounds rather daft waxing lyrical about a 1.9 turbo diesel but they are so surprisingly sprightly. I'll confess to some slip road antics, fantastic fun seeing a modern rep mobile wringing its neck to try and keep up. Obviously that steam runs out rather quickly.
Keep it serviced, it'll top 200k without a doubt. And beyond, probably.
