Hi Folks,

The sunny weather is out, the roof is off, the boot is...open.

It won't lock!!

One of my first posts here - I've been keeping a diary since picking up my first TVR, a Tuscan2 just two weeks ago.

In the first week I had an Ignition problem, took it back to Racing Green TVR who traced it to a faulty indicator chip (which somehow stopped the car starting!!) and removed the chip - so now it starts but the indicator won't cancel and I've not been given a date when this will be fixed!!

BUT - bigger problem is the boot - has anyone had problems with the Tuscan2 boot creaking and expanding in the heat? It now won't lock - I can push it shut but it doesn't click in and remains down simply due to the expanded panels giving enough friction to keep it closed.

No matter how hard I push down (not slamming, just trying to push it to lock) it won't click locked - also means the alarm can't be fully set as the boot compartment is insecure.

Is this a known issue? Any idea how to get around it?

I've been hassling the poor chaps at Racing Green but thought I'd give it a try here to find out whether it's a known issue or not.

I'll also get my diary up online soon as I think the next few weeks are gonna be fun!! :)

Would really like to hear if anyone else has had an issue like this,

Ross

Something similar happened to my Mk1 in hot weather. I got a screw driver out and adjusted the latch on the boot lid - and it has never happened again. It sounds like just a little adjustment may be required.

Sounds perfect!! Hope it's that simple - I'll have a poke around on Saturday and report back here,

Just remembered - its not a screwdriver you need, more likely a small socket/spanner if I recall correctly. Just a bit of trial and error to get it sorted out I would think.

It happened to me at the end of a scorching hot day at a car show where I was camping over. Car had been locked all day. Opened the boot and left it open getting bits and pieces out and putting up the tent. At the end of that, it would not shut, not matter what I did. So, tool kit out and soon had it fixed without a moments problem since.

I did read on here recently about someone else having a boot shutting prob on the Mk2, mine touch wood is the opposite being very easy to close. No pressure required at all. It should be fairly easy to adjust the lock plate. Check you have all the bolts. One of mine had come loose but luckily I spotted it before the plate moved. Maybe this could have happened to yours.

Cheers - I'll take a peak on Saturday and report back - I haven't slammed it but one of my colleagues closed it fairly hard on the hot day.

Don't you just hate it when passengers slam the doors by the way!??! Grrrrrrrrrrr
