Why no Santa Pod 'Track Records' (Outright/Class)?

Yeah, probably because they fall in to the realm of "exhibition vehicles" rather than a competitive category. Although obviously Sammy Miller's 3.58 is still referenced as the yard stick for 1/4 mile performance. I think there's an element of not wanting to start an arms race where jets and rockets are concerned as well - I can recall rumours of insurance complications back in '05 when Fireforce went 330+ mph.

Hi, although track records are not set under any formal rules I stick to my own set of rules which are that they can only be set at an event run under a permit, so vehicles are scrutineered and the track is checked by stewards, etc. This is purely to give the records a degree of validity.Plus of course I have to draw the line somewhere, I've got a real job in addition to my drag racing anorak duties
