They have six months to lay papers, so yes it is allowed. I take it you received a verbal NIP at the time? Something along the lines of you will be reported for the matter etc...

I'm sure a will be along with the correct wording shortly

Ah Greeny you naughty boy.

Your speed must have been such that it was not appropriate to give you a conditional offer (60/3)but that you need admonishment from the Bench for your misdemeanour when they will consider a disqualification in addition to a fine. Those CO people get off lightly considering the max fine is a thousand pounds and possible 6 points.

Either that or past naughtiness has shown on your Licence so that a CO could not be issued and your up for totting.

Month to get the offence report to CPS, laid in basket while they process (lay information/raise summons) 6-8 weeks, allocate vacant Court spot and send out summons/papers, sounds about normal.

Was told at the time it would be reported to the local Police. The Officer considered I was not driving dangerously, however the limit was 70 and my speed was above that, but not into 3 figures.
He then said it was up to them if they wished to proceed.

Sounds like the Saab 9-3 belonging to Surrey Police, if it was the Surrey section you were stopped in.
