Hi all - I’m picking up one of the last Z1000R’s on a ‘70’ plate on 1 September. Super excited, as this one will be a keeper. Has anyone any views on the airbrushed ceramic coatings I’m seeing advertised all over Bike Facebook groups? Kawasaki don’t have the best reputation for corrosion, I know as this is my 10th, so I’m keen to do all I can to help it stay perfect. Costs appears to be @£350. Thanks for views.

Thanks for this ... makes more sense to me than spurious claims. Snake oil for sure

As above, prior to winter ACF50 is great for a daily use bike that actually gets ridden through winter.

Otherwise get a £35 tub of Vulcanet. Thats pretty much all ive used on my bikes for about 8 years now ....but they are not daily riders.

Weekend dry use mostly for 2-3k miles a year each. When they have got filthy in the rain on longer touring trips then yes a good deep clean with soap n water and ACF50 after has kept them looking good.

Sorry but Im going to go against the flow on this based on my brothers experience he had MOTO GP ceramic coat applied when he bought his last bike a few years ago, and when we sold it after he died from Cancer it was in almost perfect condition despite living under a shelter in his garden, he also used ACF50 on the metal bits and they were good too, he wasn't much of a bike cleaner though but all it took me was a quick spruce up in a morning and it looked great ,it was a Honda red and there was no sun fade despite the fact that it was only partially under cover which really surprised me.
