Our periodic reminder for this newest volume of the thread:

Yes, the cure is, and always has been, much worse than the disease could ever have been. This is not the benefit of hindsight. This thread was in motion before the UK lockdown started, when it was already obvious that setting fire to the economy was always going to bring a worse long term outcome than CV could threaten.

And in today's instalment of "politicians and the broadcast media failing to understand maths", some charts:

I'm starting to think the only way out of this mess is for the Government to release a placebo vaccine. The benefits of this is.

1. It wont harm anyone
2. Appear to be 99.9 successful (because most of the population are fine anyway)
3. Cheap to produce
4. Give a massive boast to the bedwetters and get the country back on track
5. Be able to also successfully sell it to other countries and make revenue
6. No side effects
7. Appear to be world leaders in this field.

There will be a significant number of people who refuse the vaccine. I suspect the percentage will be far higher than suggested so far.

I'd like to see it as well but I'm sure I already know the answer anyway.

Ahhh - I am finally allowed to post on here.

After being banned for NO REASON in the Vol . 3 thread.

While obvious trolls like Sambucket are allowed to post freely.

Elysium, I want to say again throughout I think you have maintained a very good position, of data driven opinion and facts to back this up. I very much appreciate you providing your time to make/find these graphs etc.

The stats I read on another thread, about how 50% of people would happily have their kids home schooled for life, and 80% of people would support lockdowns etc, is genuinely scary, and honestly, I hate to say it, but a majority of these are sheeple.

- They have not looked at the statistics
- They do not understand risk analysis
- They do not even understand they're more likely to die in a car accident than WITH cv-19

Honestly, a very, very scary situation. Great for the Government though.......really shows, all this negative press, mandatory face masks, and news bulletins saying it's a silent killer and such.

I bet none of them know that they've most likely already been infected with it, or that their local hospitals are sitting EMPTY and un-used while genuinely sick people are not getting the medical treatment they deserve.

The only way to get out this is for a major press story to cover things like risk, IFR and the fact hospitals are empty, and be spear-headed by a well liked person who the people can "relate to".

Yes I know...but these people will be fine anyway. Remember its a placebo vaccine and to be sold as the Real McCoy. Its a master stroke served by our government. The vaccine could probably be made of a few vitamins. But as long as the general public thinks its a real vaccine then its job done.

Remember it only has to be as successful as the flu vaccine and we all know how successful that is right. smile

Nope. And several others have told me I hadn't said anything either.

Oh well.

I agree, to be honest if a vaccine appears in the next few months it wouldn't surprise me if it was a placebo anyway

I quite like the USA heat maps, as you get a better sense of age distribution. You can see that older infections lag about 3 weeks behind the more mobile young. I would guess the initial peak looked similar, but there was less testing of the young?

For comparisons, it would be best if the scales were the same, however it would just make the Holland graph almost unusable in comparison to the France or Spain one.

Whilst the Y-axis scales are just practical limits, for the sake of defending against those who would deliberately misconstrue data, the scales should be the same.
