The sensors only detect CO2 and the cats there or not won’t change this. If your not bothered with having no cats you could change to map 2 which is for a non cat car. Apparently it helps with better fuel economy as the ECU doesn't have to keep to 14.7

I thought the early cars were precats. There's certainly many precats Griffs out there

^^^^^ this.
Do you have a picture of your manifolds and main cat!
Does your main catt look like it’s been cut and shut after cat removal!

Or is it one of the last of the pre cats ?

I don’t believe the early ones are de catted. As far as I’m aware 1st of January 1993 was when it legally had to have cats. Mine 430 had cats and it’s the 17th Chim built. I think there was. Batch of 10 cars that were built in 1992 that didn’t have cats. But I’m sure someone will have a more detailed knowledge.

as far as i know all chimaeras had cat´s

i´m owing a 1993 model as well...pre-serp, .the one with the bolted y-piece.

pre-cat and main cat from factory. pre-cat´s are only for cold start to fullfill EU2 emissions.

isnt it illegal to de-cat a car?

Mostly yes- but I do believe there was a get out clause for some manufactures for a period around that time. I dont know if TVR where on it however.

Mine is a 1995 non cat car from the factory as can be seen by the CN as opposed to CC in the chassis number.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply its very much appreciated.
The exhaust on mine is the early pre serp bolted y piece and looks unmolested but looking inside through the pipe there is nothing inside.
I will check my chassis plate tomorrow when it eventually stops raining to see if it is a CN number.
But i do seem to remember reading somewhere that all Chimaera where cats.
At the moment dont know what to think or do as cannot see any cats for sale for pre serp bolted y piece anyway

Yep car was bought from new by the Chairman of the TVR car club in Ireland were it lived
for the first seven years of its life before being imported back to the UK.
Raises a few eyebrows at MOT time.

That makes sense then. So unless the car was built for another country as I thought they should all have cats as standard from 1st January 1993. It seems to be a bit of a myth that the early ones didn`t have them.

Hi,

I couldn't see one with a Cat, but speak to ACT & perhaps they can fabricate one for you?
https://www.actproducts.co.uk/product-category/aut...

Clive F also does Y-Pieces but not sure if he does them with Cats
https://www.facebook.com/clivefppa

Or perhaps you could get a local exhaust company to put one in your old Y-piece?

Hope That Helps

You can buy the later band-clamp style if you source the manifolds as well.
