Hello,

Hoping someone can help answer this.

Shopify seems to over subscription services - ie. you can sell your product on a subscription basis and your client will get charged x amount per month. I think I’m right in saying that?

Do you know whether it is also possible to code Shopify so that a client could sign up for a subscription but if they wanted to send the product on a one off basis to someone else, they could.

I’m thinking a client might sign up to a product subscription and receive it 3 months in a row and then realise they don’t need the refill - they could then gift it to someone else?

I am not aware of any Shopify function that offers that specifically - I think effectively they would have to change the delivery address and then change it back or some such kludge... it also seems a slightly strange business function to offer as I can't imagine that it is strongly in demand - the more normal requirement would be to suspend delivery when it is not required - e.g. Amazon's subscriptions where if you don't need the item, you can simply cancel the next delivery / suspend the subscription...

Bear in mind that most subscriptions offer a monthly payment either as a method of spreading an annual cost, or to encourage more purchases and get a discount - in neither case is it really in the interests of the business to provide too many options...

Ok - the main subscription app is recharge, you can only do it manually within the app ie you do it not the customer.

Shopify subs is out soon it may offer more functionality.

Can we code your perfect solution? Yes we can, back of a fag packet 5 min discussion says about a month dev.

Thanks for your response, really appreciate it. Yes, if one month the person already had too much coffee (in your example) they could send their subscription back to someone else by choosing this as an option on the site.

Thank you - At somepoint in the near future I may be looking for a bit of consultancy to look at a collection of shopify sites, is that something you do? E.g. Review sites from the customer perspective and give perspective on whether they can be improved?

Also interested in potentially adding the subscription functionality.
