The EML came on my 2006 Passat 2.0 TFSI yesterday and the following faults have come up on my Diagnostics Machine

P3138 Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) : Control Difference
P2187 System Too Lean At Idle, Bank 1

Now, after a bit of light reading, the first code seems to be related to some flaps/blinds on the intake manifold, which has built-in sensors and can't be replaced separately. So, the options there are replace it with a second-hand item, replace with a new item (obviously preferable, but they're quite pricey), or buy a delete kit which is available and removes the problem completely (so it seems).

My biggest question is that, would doing either of those remove the issue causing the second code too or not? As that one appears to be linked to a long list of things from what I have read. The codes definitely came together though as the EML has never been on before since I've been using the car and I had the diagnostics on it just a couple of days before to obtain some data on the air con system and I carried out a full health check there and no issues with the engine management system.

Finally, the car has had a slight rattle/flutter at idle, which I was going to investigate. It sounds almost like an exhaust blow, but right around the engine. I was thinking maybe a partially blocked injector or something would be another possibility (car goes like hell though, although haven't pushed it since EML came on), but having read about this, could it be that this manifold runner could cause such a noise if it was faulty?

Cheers

The second code is caused by the flaps probably stuck slightly open causing too much air at idle and low rpm. Deleting does remove it permanently if funds wont stretch to new parts.
