Graduate Car

Hello,

I am in the market for a new car. I am a new graduate earning in the £30k mark and I have 2-3 years driving experience. I am working at Jaguar Land Rover and had a look at their employee deals which seem okay but I want to make sure I am making the right decision.

Currently it is possible to get a new XE on about £300 a month PCP

or using the Jaguar Employee Used scheme I can get a year or 2 year old XE for around £18000

Do you think any of these are worth it? Or are they simply too expensive for myself?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Without knowing your personal circumstances it's hard to suggest. But I'm 24 and a graduate on similar money and I wouldn't spend anywhere near that, assuming you don't have a house, wouldn't you be better saving for a house and driving a banger?

Similar situation, Will be renting for a couple of years or so.

However you are only young once, although a Jaguar wouldn't be my first choice at that age.

Always been a lover of Jags, Just don't think it is the right time to rush into anything like that. A 2017 XE goes for between 12-15k

If you want a jag why not go for one a few years old and get a personal loan >3% subject to good credit rating and checks

That is what I have been thinking about currently, How old / mileage would you recommend?

How many miles do you do a year? This will help you decide on what model to go for.

£300 a month sounds alright, to run around in a new car.

I work on a 1/3 of take home pay for bills, mortgage etc, 1/3 enjoying money, 1/3 for saving.

So if I was living at home for free, with just a mobile phone bill, car insurance and fuel to pay, I reckon I’d have £500 a month spare for a motor, on your pay
