Anybody got a new e-golf?
How many miles do you get out of a charge? Somebody ordered one at work and left before it is due to arrive next month. I can do 150-200 miles a day if out and about seeing clients so it would need charging along the way but need to know how often in the real world.
I whinged at fleet because they extended the lease on my current car Without telling me, so I spat my dummy & told them they could have it back I didn’t want it anymore and they have called me out & offered up this Golf instead.
Northern tightness says the 3600 BIK saving I will make over my current car makes it a no brainier but it looks sh*t even with 8k of options added to it

eGolf is only 35kWh, so you're reasonably looking at 100-120 miles at proper motorway speeds. Owners claim 150 miles if doing urban driving. 50kW charging means 35 mins for 0-80%.How many miles do you get out of a charge? If you were stopping at 2 destinations with 7kW chargers on your rounds then great. But I wouldn't be using it for 200 miles without destination charging.
Having read you OP I'd avoid it if I were you. Running an EV with such limited range is going to be a challenge at those daily mileages and in the winter you'll likely struggle to get 100 miles out of it so will be needing to find at least an hour in your day to charge + need a dedicated charger at home for the following day.
All depends how much hassle that £300 a month in BIK saving is worth to you I suppose?

2yr lease extension When already paying £300 On a car I have had for 3 years that has now got 75k miles on it.

t?I don’t think the 5 door body looks good on the Std Golf plus It’s glittery white which cost over 1k as an option with the 16” wheels
Yea, from experience the e-golf is designed as a city/suburbs car which it’s excellent at. It would not suit your usage profile at all though. 200 miles a day is a lot for any car, let alone an EV, and definitely not an e-golf as they’ve not got enough range. Maybe one of the new Kia EV’s would work, but only if you can charge it at home at 7kW.
Realistically a diesel or hybrid would be a much better option for you. And in the Golf range there is every option of Powertrain. Diesel, petrol, EV, and hybrid (the GTE)

I’ve got one as a replacement for a 5 series I was paying horrendous BIK for.
Whilst it looks a bit basic, it’s good to drive, with a decent shove of torque and like all Evs immediately accessible.
On range, it’s weather dependant, but 130miles is achievable in summer with motorway. I recently did a 200 mile round trip and needed the fast charger at the destination. About 40 mins.
If your doing 200 miles day in day out I’d say it would be a pita for you. If that’s less common then it’s ok and you’ll be £7k better off after 2 years

EV wise you're looking at 60kWh car minimum to be hitting 200 miles a day, and you'll need 9 hours at home on the 7kW to recharge. The benefit of the larger cars are that you can charge faster too, so it would only be a very brief stop at 100kW/150kW rapid charger to get you enough to comfortably cover the distance.Realistically a diesel or hybrid would be a much better option for you. Something like a 50kWh 208/Corsa with 100kW rapid available at some point would be viable.

I love my E-Golf and on the last charge I got 155 miles with 20 left. Lots depends on how you drive it but with a little care it's okay. I can get to my destination 105 miles away. Go to my meeting while car on charge and then 105 home. It works okay for me and the car has a heat pump and larger wheels but its things like using the aircon or burying the throttle that uses power.
