Anyone selling on Autotrader? Odd emails.

Hello chaps!

I'm wondering if anyone is selling a car on Autotrader at the moment and if so do you receive odd emails? I have received two today from two separate chaps, the first at 01:40am and today at 09:00 am, both with the same message ' Is it still available?' I placed the ad last night but just finding it odd that I received 2 emails with the same text body.

I have responded with 'yes, would you like any other information?' Anything to be wary of from your past experience?

Mmm, the second chap has asked for the VIN number? In all the cars I have ever sold that's a new one. Is there any danger in sending this? Just find it odd, usually it's a call to talk through the history, condition and general chat...

What car is it? You can use the VIN to do a vehicle check, look at factory options etc. You can't do any harm with it - you can see it on most cars through the windscreen.

Quite normal to ask ‘Is it still available?’ I would have thought..?

As said above, the VIN can be used to check out the spec or find build info. Nothing odd about it if you ask me.

Yes it is normal, it read a little odd as the message was exactly the same from two separate people, apparently it's a default Autotrader question, and regarding the VIN, again, I'm a noob. Apart from that both messages were indeed from genuine people, I'm negotiating with both on the best price.
