This is as accurate as their other algorithms for tyre life and percentage chance of overtaking, isn't it?

Kovalainen at number 8 rofl

And where's Mika Hakinnen, the man who out-qualified Senna in his first race as teammates?

If that's the output from Rom Smedley's new job and it's taken a year, I think he needs to go back to what he used to do smile

I reckon it probably hasn't been developed to take into account the differing fuel loads from the era when they had to qualify with race fuel onboard.

The model is clearly broken just from the time spread. More than half are current drivers. Lando Norris has only done one and a bit seasons!

I didn't realise Fisichella had rebranded either.

I was just about make that comment. A lot of these models over the years that have tried to rate drivers have suffered from a recency bias of sorts. It would be interesting to hear more about the actual algorithm used.

For my money, I prefer this model & it's results tongue out :

^Even that has some 'weird' names in the top 20, but at least you can see why this might be so.

Yes against one team mate, the team mate (Carlos Sainz) is bench marked against Max, Kyvat, Palmer & Hulk...

Pinch of salt. The model treats M Schmacher's time at Mercedes differently.
However according to this, Rosberg was his closest team mate...

Mansell always had fast team mates, de Angelis, Piquet, Prost... even Boutsen wasn’t shabby so doesn’t get the credit he deserves from this analysis.

Someone's already updated his wiki page...

Wikipedia said:

I wonder if Lewis' record against various teammates means HK's record against Lewis thus bumped him up much higher.

Likewise Charles repeatedly beating a now useless Seb in a car he doesn't like means Charles looks even better overall because of Seb's previous record against teammates and then what those teammates have done etc.

I think it's an admirable idea and they've no doubt spent a lot of time balancing things out to try and make sensible numbers, but I think the size of the pinch of salt this should be taken with would be pretty hazardous to your health.

I'd quite like an AWS tyre wear display for my road car though. Do enough roundabouts and the left front will be down to 10 % before the inside rear is at 50 % I reckon.

Yes, very probably true, but by the same method of three degrees of separation we're all related to the Queen of England, but that doesn't make any of us eighth in line to the throne.
