The model is clearly broken just from the time spread. More than half are current drivers. Lando Norris has only done one and a bit seasons!
I was just about make that comment. A lot of these models over the years that have tried to rate drivers have suffered from a recency bias of sorts. It would be interesting to hear more about the actual algorithm used. For my money, I prefer this model & it's results

^Even that has some 'weird' names in the top 20, but at least you can see why this might be so.

Smedley and co. really need to show their working out to explain this one.
I wonder if Lewis' record against various teammates means HK's record against Lewis thus bumped him up much higher.Smedley and co. really need to show their working out to explain this one.
Likewise Charles repeatedly beating a now useless Seb in a car he doesn't like means Charles looks even better overall because of Seb's previous record against teammates and then what those teammates have done etc.
I think it's an admirable idea and they've no doubt spent a lot of time balancing things out to try and make sensible numbers, but I think the size of the pinch of salt this should be taken with would be pretty hazardous to your health.

Yes, very probably true, but by the same method of three degrees of separation we're all related to the Queen of England, but that doesn't make any of us eighth in line to the throne.Likewise Charles repeatedly beating a now useless Seb in a car he doesn't like means Charles looks even better overall because of Seb's previous record against teammates and then what those teammates have done etc.
