Makes you sick

So this lowlife supplied his girlfriend with Class A drugs, then filmed her dying without calling for help. Quite rightly he was convicted of manslaughter, now the sh*te's legal team have won him a reprieve in the Court of Appeal because (they argue) he wasn't to know she was going to die.
The Law in this country really sickens me sometimes, as with the recent verdicts against the scum that dragged that police officer to his death, now this....

I watched a film recently wherein the central character had a break-in, wife raped and murdered, daughter murdered, him stabbed and left for dead. Clever career orientated lawyer got one of the perps to drop the other in the mire so he only got 2 years, the other 4 after some sharp lawyerly stuff. A few lawyers came to (deservedly IMO) sticky ends... .She was on a cocktail of other drugs including MDMA and ketamine whilst also on 2CP, which is known as one of the more risky 2C variants. A load like this aren't ones you'd take your first time at a festival so she was obviously used to party drugs so probably not her first time.
Tragic for everyone involved but she knew the risks when she took them and such a shame for someone to lose their life. He's had his life ruined by this already and the Class A supplying is still being imposed so it's not like he's being released free to get on with his life. Which he will never be able to now anyway.
Yes, more could and should have been done when she was struggling and that will haunt him forever. Who knows what state of mind he was in at the time.

It's a hard one this, I can't really feel sorry for people who choose to hang around dicks which this guy obviously is.
I just think what a waste every time I see what seems to be a nice attractive young girl handing around some gangster wannabe dick, I just think what a idiot. But you make your choice you live with them.

Yeah, I'm thinking that at the moment too.......I just think what a waste every time I see what seems to be a nice attractive young girl handing around some gangster wannabe dick, I just think what a idiot. But you make your choice you live with them.
The debate seems to be that the expert said he was 90% sure that the young lady would live if the emergency services had been called 5 hours earlier. For him to be guilty his actions (or lack of them) would have needed to have caused the death.
The higher-level judges said 90% isn't enough for 'all reasonable doubt'. Which sort of makes sense. How many of us would bet our houses or lives with a 9 in 10 chance?
I have zero legal training and might be totally wrong.
The problem as I see it is that there is no punishment for videoing on your phone someone suffering - even if your action might not cause death.
I feel massively sorry for her family. And I hope they can find some peace. She did have her own part to play in this tragedy - as did the bloke.
I'm more concerned with the previous information released that he had form for giving girls massive amounts of drugs and then enjoying watching them suffer. To me that makes him a massive danger. I'd hope the police keep a close eye on him and protect others if he really gets off on that stuff.

Did he do all he could to help her? - the wail claims he didn't even bother to try and get help....Tragic for everyone involved but she knew the risks when she took them and such a shame for someone to lose their life. Louella Fletcher-Michie, the daughter of actor John Michie, died from a 2C-P overdose in September 2017 at the Bestival festival in Dorset, UK, the first reported death from 2C-P.[6] Her boyfriend was found guilty of manslaughter, for giving her the drug and failing to act to help her for over six hours after she overdosed. His conviction was quashed in August 2020.
So she was ill for over 6 hours and the 'boyfriend' didn't get help - according to the mail he recorded her on his mobile phone...Edited by jesusbuiltmycar on Tuesday 18th August 14:57

The question for the jury would be is that enough to ensure a manslaughter conviction though? The judge decided the chance of her surviving wasn't high enough to satisfy the standard required for criminality even if he got help. That obviously doesn't mean should wouldn't have lived if he had - the expert said it was 90% chance she would have. It's very tragic for everyone, she knew to some extent what she was doing when she took them, he will forever be a dick for not getting help, but there were other people there too who failed to help her. Must be very difficult for the parents, knowing that their daughter would have been alive had the people she trusted not done more when she needed it.

I watched that too. Found myself agreeing with his actions although some of it was a little extreme.
