Can anyone recommend a good electric guitar stand please?

Might be buying my lad an Epiphone Les Paul electric guitar and would like a decent stand for his bedroom. It's quite an expensive guitar for us at around £500, so would like a good stand that is stable. Theres plenty for £10 - £15 on Amazon but they look a bit cheaply made.

He's already got a bass and a Yamaha guitar which are kept in cases under his bed, so if theres a good 3 guitar stand then I'd also consider that.

Any suggestions please?

How about using a bracket on the wall?

I've got a bunch at different prices. TBH, there's not a lot of difference in stability. The problems mostly come from clumsiness, and no stand has got a feature that protects against that.

(A separate problem is that some have rubber-covered supports that react with nitrocellulose finishes, but I think your Epi is likely to be polyester and immune.)

These are good enough for guitar shops...

Thanks, but he doesn't have wall space for a wall mounted guitar bracket

I'd like to mount my bass on a door in the room where I keep it, but the only over-door bracket I can find is from doorjamz and it seems a touch squeaky at £50-ish. Does anyone know of alternative hang-over-door brackets?

Honestly you aren't going to go wrong for twenty quid (max) regardless of the guitar that is sitting on it, after all if anyone pays any attention they're going to look at the instrument and not the stand that it is on.

I have three guitars, all sitting on identical stands that were a tenner each, regardless of their value, what's the problem?

Depends on how much and how fancy but top end (£100-£200) I'd be looking at Ruach, Dragon or Zither:

Ruach

Dragon One

Zither

Personally I prefer Hercules Stands and they do a 3 guitar version for about £70.

^ Er ... those fancy-looking ones are about as daft as you can get. Tiny footprint = unstable.

Maybe they include insurance against the inevitable broken headstocks? wink

As others have said, no stand can protect against knocks and bumps but Hercules are as good as you'll get from a protection standpoint (neck clips).

If you're looking for something sturdy with a good footprint and plenty of stand-body grip that doesn't also make your son's room look like a guitar shop then I'm a big fan of these: https://www.stand-made.co.uk/product/wooden-electr...

Have my LP sat in one at the moment. Let me know if you'd like pics.

Keep it in the case, under the bed.

My Son kept his LP on a stand and it fell over, snapping the headstock off. * cry

*see 'Les Paul broken headstock' post for more info.

Um... cat/dog/ghost/son - who was the actual culprit? wink

Another vote for the Hercules stands, have my acoustic on a single stand in living room, and the 5 guitar stand in the studio. Really solid build, no risk of it falling over.

Another vote for the hercules stands - they do versions for wall mounted single, floor standing single, 3 and 6 guitar trees. They are stable and well put together.

I love the look of those wooden stands, but there's no way on Clapton's green earth that I'd use them for a valuable guitar.
