Interface KRK Rokit 5 Monitors and 2009 MacBook

The speakers get good reviews for audio monitoring. Can I just connect them direct to the audio output of my Macbook or will I need an amp in the middle. I emailed KRK 2 weeks ago but never got a reply.

You’ll need a usb audio interface. I used the M-Audio interface a while back on my Rokits, snazzy as it had volume control which allows swift adjustment.

Similarly a soundcard like a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 can be used, the benefit being addition of audio inputs, if you’re that way inclined.
