MacBook limited network speeds?
Discussion
I'm very happy with my shiny new broadband connection upgrade that provides 170+Mbps download speeds.
However, I'm seeing significant variances in speed test results from different devices on my home network, specifically my (admittedly ancient) MacBook Pro.
Regardless of whether it is connected by (Gbit) Ethernet or (5GHz) WiFi, I'm unable to get download rates greater than 90Mbps. Other devices (including my Samsung smartphone, a Dell laptop and Linux desktop) all manage to get 170Mbps. The only other 'slow' device is a WiFi connected Amazon Firestick (70Mbps).
Is there a good reason why the MacBook Pro would be limited in network speed? I believe it has a Gbit ethernet adaptor, and a WiFi adapter capable of 300Mbps.
If it matters, router is a BT Smart Hub 2 on their Halo (G.Fast) service.
