Hi all, I guess it falls under the category for 'Stuff'.

I'm looking for a panic alarm type thing for my Mum, but as my Dad lives in the house and there could be a lot of 'false alarms' I don't want one that goes through to a central place, but I can't seem to find a local wifi based one anywhere.

The mobile phone signal is terrible as their out in the sticks, but there's a good wifi signal throughout the house, so does anyone know of a local wifi one which could alert my Dad (almost like a walkie talkie type thing)?

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks that’s a good idea which I’d not considered! I’ve bought one from Amazon and will try it out.

Have a look for a lone worker alarm.

You can get phone apps that do it too.

In addition to a panic button they will detect if the user hasn't moved for a period of time too (eg a fall) they will prompt the user for a response first, and then escalate it as required.

Hue switches and sockets connected to a sounder could do this too.
