Morning
I’ve got a leak on one of the power steering hoses. I’ve got a new set of hoses but intend to have them replaced at the next service as I’m honestly not confident in replacing them.
I’ve done a quick search and it would appear that you can use gearbox oil?
The question is, would this one be ok do you think? It’s one that has been sitting on a shelf in the garage. For now I was hoping to simply top it up as required. Obviously if it’s not the correct one I’ll pop out and get something different but it would be great if I could use it up!!
Many thanks for any advice.

Don't use that!

Halfords or any Motor Factors will sell you 'Power Steering Fluid' , don't use anything else !

The fluid should be 'Dexron III' or equivalent. Something to do with protecting the steering rack seals. Other PAS fluids may cause premature failure

OP. You probably read that power steering fluid and ATF, that is Automatic Transmission Fluid are pretty much the same thing. However, as said above, I would not use a manual gearbox oil, which is what you posted. EP 140 is a much higher viscosity that ATF would be.
