Your own Great Reset
Discussion
The World Economic Forum of royals, billionaires and leading academics have decided to use coronavirus and the associated economic and social catastrophe as a pretext for making the world more how they wanted it.
They are talking a lot about sustainability, mass vaccinations, less income inequality and more international governance. While I disagree with them on nearly everything, including the premise that Prince Charles and Bill Gates were marginalised in the old order, it does seem like the world as we knew it is going to change dramatically as a result of this.
I thought it would be interesting to see what other people's ideas were for a great reset.
My own would be a lot different from the Davos version.
I would like to see a return to some sort of finite commodity backed currency to stop endless inflation and printing money, and to reduce the distortive effects of fiat money.
I would like to see less international governance and more local transparency and accountability. International cooperation should be done on more of a project basis where relevant countries cooperate for specific things, not by huge bureaucracies with little oversight and an incentive to find problems where non exist.
What else.

I'm half way through a carton of prune juice.
Milk of magnesia did it for me. Codeine had me bunged up after a back injury and I was worried I’d end up crapping out a diamond. Think I may have lost a kidney in the ensuing ‘kerfuffle’

I've noticed almost nothing different in my life vs 6 months ago other than being forced to wear a silly mask in the shops. If that is the Big Reset then bring it on!
TX.
No doubt it’s happening, maybe it’s not as easy as they thought. The national trust papers that were leaked definitely mentioned the ‘reset’ . No slavery related stuff, and plans to ‘reappropriate’ buildings for corporate etc. Good luck with that. TX.
We certainly are being primed by the media and government talking heads to accept various forms of ‘new normal’. There are some....even many, including the Davos class, the WEF and others who are very keen to use every crisis to centralise and increase control over the lives of the global population in general.
If you like things the way they are, I suspect it is going to be tough luck. Personaly I preffer things the way they are, warts and all, to being subject to further control, monitoring and management. Most particularly if the source of that control is unelected and unacountable.
Again, I dont think my position or even that of millions with the same mindset will matter one iota to the outcome we get, which will be as desired by a number of very wealthy and powerful people as vested in all manner of foundations, think tanks and supranational bodies.

Well the only way the green part would work would be everyone staying in at home, no car, limited heat in the winter, no fancy foods flown in from afar. Sounds like 1920 Russia. How do you sell that, and more importantly who pays for everything ie tax revenues. If you like things the way they are, I suspect it is going to be tough luck. Have you been paying attention?Everyone staying at home - check. Lockdown to avoid catching/spreading the virus. No need to go out shopping -everything is online.
No car - check. Haven't you noticed that the answer to all problems these days is "Narrow roads, close roads, ban cars" ?
Limited heat in winter - check. Get rid of gas central heating and replace with some crappy heat pump with a fraction of the capacity.
No fancy foods - not there yet, but give it time.
How do you sell that? "Saving the planet" remember. If we don't give up our first-world lifestyle, Earth will turn into a copy of Venus. People believe that BS.
Who pays? You do, of course, either directly or indirectly. The government don't need you to spend - they can spend it for you. They don't need tax revenues if they can just print it.
If you buy into the conspiracy that some unelected supranational talking shop wants to run our lives...just how would they control 8 billion people?
There again, I didn’t for one minute believe we’d trash the economy on the chance some of my compatriots would die from flu.
Neither did I think we’d stop flying due to an unpronounceable Icelandic volcano, or burn a large number of the UK herd due to an illness that doesn’t kill humans.
So in short I haven’t a clue what’s going on. Why’s there a black helicopter circling outside...
