F15 X5 - Tyre Recommendations
Discussion
Happy Friday All
It's that time where the family bus is due some new boots, current on the standard fit Pirelli P Zero run flats (staggered 20'' M Sport set up).
From what I can see there are several options:
Bridgestone Dueller Sport - cheapest, but hard ride?
Dunlop Sport Maxx - Old design but good reports however supposed to wear quickly
Dunlop Sport Maxx GT - wear rate high?
Conti Sport 5 - Best option, but expensive
P Zero (Replace like for like) - Seemed fine but expensive...
Have you guys tried any of the above as a comparison point? I want to keep the runflats for convenience as the wife is the main driver...
Cheers!

just swapped the fronts on our F15 X5
Car came new with Dunlop Sport Max GT
as the rears still had 5mm tread on them, I decided to keep with the Dunlops.
Grip in all conditions seams pretty good, though we rarely throw the car around.
Tyre fitter said that 20-24 K is ideal out of tyres, as for wear & ageing. At that point he didn't know the mileage on the car, which was 23K.
Kwik Fit on the drive - Cheapest (just) and very professional. Fitter was happy to chat & was local.
Rears should be due just before winter sets in.
(don't bother with Winters on this car, as I have a second set of wheels with winters on for the 320D Touring.)

Just ordered the ContiSport 5 from Kwik fit...10% off at the moment making them by far the cheapest option and with home fitting. Result.
Always liked the contisports i've had on previous cars so fingers crossed they work well on the X5 too. I'll report back once they have bedded in a while

Would really appreciate some advice related to this please:
The post encouraged me to measure my tyres, 3mm at rear and 5/6mm at fronts. I read all these horror stories about transmission issues on X5s if tyres aren’t replaced as a four. Is this still the case or can I replace the rears and then the fronts at another time?
Thank you

At 3mm with winter coming I would change the rears.
