Hi,

Just noticed the bonnet has developed a nice hairline crack, just were the bonnet catch is. Great....

Is the bonnet meant to open just by pulling on the lever on the steering wheel or do you have to pull on the bonnet at the same time as pulling the lever (I do).

I'm guessing this is what has caused the crack (especially when people start to tug at it as you are showing them the car!), about 10-15cm long. Has anyone else had cracks appear?

Not a happy bunny at the moment what with it being off the road and then finding this.....

Rob.

From the sound of that, Rob, it seems that someone at some point in the cars life has tried to force the bonnet up whilst it was still secured to the catch, or the bonnet has been slammed down too hard. I remember the TVR salesman telling me to be very careful when opening and closing the boonnet when I bought my Chim, as they're very prone to cracks when sudden localised forced is applied.
If and when you need a front end respray, I'm sure they'd fix the crack for not too much extra
