Excited is probably an understatement.

AUC from BMW. 32k on the clock. Full service history. It has a service coming up so BMW said they'd do it before i collect it.

Told that the next service is due in 11k miles.

Overall happy with the purchase and to me sounds like a bargain (30k).

Just wondering is there anything the salesman might not have said to me that would require my attention? I mean in terms of costs (brake pads etc).

Not 100% sure what you mean , but if you don’t have it then get the AUC checklist ; will show an actual condition of brakes : not just what iDrive reports on pads.

cheers man. Just meant in terms of any costs that i should expect to come up? Or any problems to ask the dealership about prior to taking the car away?

Put the registration into Bmw service website , will give an idea of servicing costs and any future replacement of aforementioned brakes.
You’re very well covered under AUC warranty and if I were you I’d extend that cover (BMW Insured) after 12 months. You can google to find out what’s excluded. Those would be your costs but only IF they went wrong.

But I’d say just enjoy your car. And your new relationship with the petrol station biggrin

Yeh i know the fuel is gonna' be a killer. Already planning to take my car into mainland europe - I might aswell keep a spare tank of fuel in the boot lol

So with it being used I'm kinda scared to test it and press the accelerator or take it to a track - am i just being paranoid for no good reason or is the f10 made to be tested/thrown about?

Previous salesman who was trying to convince me to buy a brand new M4 told me the M cars are super fragile and he would NEVER buy a used M car - hence my paranoia.

PS I'm not a car expert

Exactly. And if they are that super fragile why would you want to plough all that money into a new one, warranty or not?

My 2015 F10 M5 has been superb for 140k miles. Supremely capable and comfortable car.

If you are considering a track day, they are specifically named as not being covered by BMW Insured Warranty.

Well that's one reason not to use it on track. Another is it's not really that sort of car.

Can imagine it would go through tyres and brakes pretty quickly whilst not being particularly good fun.

My M5 is great fun on track, not that hard on consumables either although rear pads needed changing which seems to be because TC uses the rear brakes to stabilize the car.

Fair enough, never done a track day so I don't really feel that I'm missing out on anything. Thanks for the info.

Biggest thing stopping me from getting the M5 was the worry of engine/repair costs but from reading around they seem to be pretty reliable. Hopefully with warranty the only added costs compared to my current car (420) will be the tyres and endless trips to the petrol station (of course insurance, road tax etc).

Can't wait to pick it up!!

Only thing I’m a bit worried about is replacing the brake pads? I know that’s dependent on how the previous drivers used the car but should I expect a change at 32k miles? And will the price be included under warranty or not? - I think it’s like a £3K job?

Brake pads are an easy DIY job. Even I can do it.

You can see how worn they are by simply looking at them through the wheel. They will also need to be certain depth on an AUC.

£3000 for brakes? Are they CCB? If not, steer clear of the franchise garage for fitting simple consumable parts. Put the registration into somewhere like ECP to get an idea of OEM spec pads. Failing that, phone up the BMW parts department and ask for prices. Discs look quite spendy so run your finger across the surface to check for lipping.

Have you actually seen the car you've bought?

As I said I’m not very good with cars. Completely out of my depth here.

Yeh took a look at it over the weekend and drove it around, dropped a deposit and I’ll be going back to collect later in the week. Just getting some tips prior to officially purchasing lol

Ask to add the second year warranty - it's only £600 at this point from memory.

They told me that they don’t offer that anymore and that BMW will contact me 3 months before my warranty is up to extend.

They do offer the warranty, i almost purchased and f10 m5 a month a go with a two year warranty from Rybrook. They are being lazy.

In the end i purchased a f80 M3 2016 with a three year warranty at a cost of £899 extra from a BMW dealer = bargain!

Are you sure you've bought the right car for you?

If you spend you're life worrying about what's gonna go wrong you should probably buy a Honda or something?

You have a great deal of peace of mind buying an AUC to start with, these are pretty robust cars and you shouldn't have to fork out on new brakes in the first 12 months unless you drive with your foot on the brake or the back wheels spinning all the time.

Honestly just enjoy it, accept it won't be as fuel efficient as a normal car but that's what you've signed up for - smiles rather than miles and if something goes wrong take it back to the dealer.

Good luck I'm sure you will love it

I know I’m being a baby lol

Can’t wait to get in it and tbh I drive very sensibly. Only bought this car because I’ve always wanted an M car and just couldn’t pass up on this.

Cheers for the help. Will be posting more on here I’m sure.
