German speeding - letter

First letter through following our drive to Croatia In July.
My Wife (to her Parents address) Has received a letter for 112 in a 60 on a motorway. I remember it, slowed from the 130kph to 100ish at that sign but obviously missed the further reduction - seeing this lower limit sign after the very obvious flash.
Cash is tight so don’t fancy shelling out.
Looking it up theY need the name of the driver to prosecute. Seeing as the photo is obviously male the Mrs is ok here.
- will Brexit make an impact? Is it worth ignoring it knowing that I’ve only got 4 Months before there is no issue?
- is there any harm naming a “Joe Bloggs” at a random welsh marina knowing they’ll never track it?

Annoyingly this happened less than a week after putting the private plate on the car. Only saving grace from my thoughts is that the photo is very obviously a bloke....is there anything then stopping her from saying “I named driver, not my responsibility”

Any loophole is a go-er for me Current intention is to update the V5 this evening and claim no receipt. Will be a good few years before this car goes back to Germany (we’ve never been stopped in any event) so between brexit and timing out (assume its like here) it’ll be done with. With everything that’s happening I could do with the £300 in my account not theirs

how much was it it. Because there is no real loop , they will get the car owners details issue a fine, then chase the debt using debt collectors. Is the fine value worth this, in the future hassle you will get?Will this change after 31 Dec?
These sort of speed limit reductions usually pop up in construction zones. This looks like a fairly large overstep, so its surprising that a license suspension is not in question. There are bi-lateral agreements and in most cases they will follow-up on such fines, and it may end up with some collection company (will get expensive). Check some law/legal forums to see if you get more detailed info.

Which bilateral agreements are in place for livcence points/suspensions between the UK and European countries?I had the same problem a few years ago, got done going through a restriction at Munich Airport from 120 to 100, but got the fine both ways! In my case i was in a hire car and knew nothing for over three months, then got a letter demanding money as I had missed a court date!!
Turns out they had gone to the hire car company who usually pay a lot of the fines and then bill, as they have done in the past. In this case the hire car company took three months to decide they were doing nothing, sent it back to the Police with my UK address, by which time the German police had escalated it for non -payment and wanted 240 Euro from me.
I have no idea if there are any way they can collect the debt here, quite frankly i doubt it. If just driving across in your own car, I think you would be fine if it has different plates on and you do not get stopped. In my case, I took legal advice and was told its a gray area! "May" flag up when going through passport control was all my solicitor would advise.
In my case I wrote to the court, challenged the fine and said that if i was appearing in court in Munich I would require an interprter, which is at their cost and all the staff who had contact with it from the hire car company to attend and explain to the German Magistrate why they had not processed it properly. Offered to pay the original fine of 80, which they accepted.

Getting on for £300 if the tables online are to be believed.There is also possibly going to be another one/two on the way for <5kph over which are £10-30 each.
The hassle is then paying, if they have a way of taking online payments then fine, a bank transfer is £30 a go...
With a huge amount of debt from bailing out my parents and hoping to get a mortgage in the spring I’d rather use the cash to pay that down.
There is no link between UK and Germany in terms of licence.
I had 7 or 8 fines in Germany and zero points given, fines were anything from €10-200 EUR, on my final one they wanted me to trade in my UK for a German licence so they could issue points.
Whilst the Germans will not give up trying to trace you (but I was a resident so not comparable), if the car is registered to your girlfriend and you were driving I’d just answer and state that as the registered keeper it is not you driving.
As they don’t have your licence Info’ there isn’t any real risk (just don’t take that car back).
