Anyone else drink alcohol and not eat regularly
Discussion
Sorry to be dull but maybe knock the drink on the head for a few months, swap it for water, orange/apple juice etc. I'm biased as my life has been affected by bad alcohol abuse (not me). You may find its unnecessary and save yourself a few quid. I have nothing against people drinking but it's too easy to become dependant on it in the same way as illegal substances.
It’s possible that, depending on the amount being consumed, the booze is what’s actually causing the morning “sugar crash”, at least in part. The reason people really, really need a massive, dirty kebab after a night out is because alcohol impairs the liver’s ability to release glucose into the bloodstream, which makes you hungry. But this effect might take a few hours to become apparent so if you drink late at night then go straight to bed you might wake up feeling not only hungry, but a bit dizzy and generally in less than champion form.

OP hasnt said that he has been drinking much, just that when he has some alcohol he doesnt want to eat after.
Yes, typical PH response. OP even points out that food wins. You lot must be a right laugh in the pub.

I am the same as the OP in that alcohol seems to suppress my appetite; one of the reasons I am not the size of a house is I have never bought into the whole "kebab on the way home" thing.
Even these middle-aged days I'm the same. I always go to the pub early doors on a Friday with the missus for 3-4 drinks (PH hivemind reply "its amazing you have a liver") and it kills my desire for dinner. My OH likes to come home and cook, so it's the one night of the week we eat apart as I have to eat before we go out.

Surely the “easy” solution would be to eat something as soon as you get home every night which will stop you from drinking anyway.
Even if you do decide to drink at least you’ve had food to soak some of it up.
As above that is what I do every Friday, 'tea' rather than dinner I suppose. Even if you do decide to drink at least you’ve had food to soak some of it up.

I suppose that, as an addiction psychotherapist, my attention is drawn to a poster who is asking for reassurance about his drinking pattern.
The definition of bias. ^^
OP hasn’t mentioned concern over a drinking pattern, he’s talking about alcohol suppressing appetite and wondering if it’s the same for others.
