Anyone driving Octavia VRS with remap (MK3) thoughts?
Discussion
Hi, starting to think about possible replacement cars (currently in an S3). Octavia VRS estate with a map looking to be around 300hp but what are they like to drive with that extra go. I'm used to 4wd drive and similar power so traction hasn't really been an issue before. Are they are torque steering beast or actually quite reasonable a.) off the lights b.) accelerating out of corners?
I had a mk3 vrs 230, had it mapped to 286bhp / 467NM by Shark Performance when they were around.
Not the best decision I ever made - unfortunately really showed up the lack of sophistication in the front axle, even with the LSD.
Endless wheel hop / lack of traction, especially when trying to pull out of junctions when it was anything but bone dry.

Thanks for the feedback. This is sort of what I was expecting and I think would put me off. How do all these 300bhp front wheel drivers like the Honda Civic manage, is it just a more sophisticated setup? Not the best decision I ever made - unfortunately really showed up the lack of sophistication in the front axle, even with the LSD.

280bhp to the front wheels is fine when you're moving, if you try to put your foot down from standing its very easy to get terrible wheel hop though. The pedal has a dead zone in it to basically force you to set off smooth as well. You can't really control the launch, just a guessing game of how far down you push the pedal.
Its fine in gear though and also hitting corners hard the LSD works really well.
