3D BluRay Media Through 2D Equipment

The title pretty much covers this! I am under the impression that 3D media played through a regular (non-3D) BluRay player and HD television will produce a regular picture. Can anyone confirm that this is correct for me please?

Yes, this is correct. I've bought a few films on 3D disc but as I don't have a 3D-capable BluRay player I get a 'bogo' HD picture.
