I've got a Debenhams Mastercard at the moment (pay for most stuff to get points then immediately clear the balance) but given their precarious status I'm concerned that I'll end up with vouchers that I can't use so may as well get a new card with more usable rewards. Having done a couple of quick searches I'm not seeing much out there at the moment (understandably). Anyone got a decent recommendation please?

They are all a bit crap now cashback wise

We have a M&S one as we do all our food, clothing and most home furnishing shopping there so we get lots of points and they give bonus vouchers for more points regularly

Did once have a Amex but it was so pitiful at 0.1% as was the NatWest it was hardly worth it

I've had a Bank of Ireland moneyback reward card for about 15 years always cleared each month.
It pays 0.5% on first £15000 spent each year which soon adds up. I hit it every year and the £75 comes off at the year end statement.

Not a life changing amount but every little helps. I'm not sure if they still have this offer, pretty sure they don't so I'll hang on to it.

Depends what rewards you’re interested in

I use Am Ex and make good use of the Avios points and companion vouchers. You need to be clearly a reasonable amount monthly though

I travel is your thing, then Amex platinum.

if you are BA user, then get the BA one as there is an uplift on the amex points to avios transfer.

If you fly with other airlines, then get the platinum. I can refer you and you get more opening points for joining....35,000

to put this into perspective, its 36,000 points for an emirates upgrade from economy to business from the uk to dubai.

points are earned at 1 per pound of spend, and transfer to loads of airlines point for point. loads of fringe benefit too like insureance and lounge access.

there is an annual fee though, so if you aren't using it lots just get the basic card.

pm me if you (or anyone) wants a referal link

IHG for hotel points. £99 annual fee, but spend £10k in the year for a free hotel night which is easily more than £99 if you pick well. You'll also have around 20k points by this point which would be enough for a second night somewhere.

Virgin Atlantic Rewards+. £160 annual fee, again we spend £10k on this for one upgrade/2-4-1 voucher valid for two years plus obviously all the points collected spending that amount. There's a decent sign-up bonus at the moment.

If you're going to spend more than £30k in a year, perhaps a second VA+ card for another 2-4-1 voucher in your partner's name?

Amex still seems to be the best for cash back but it's not as widely taken as Visa and Mastercard.

I still use it most online spending, supermarkets, fuel etc.
