Check reg no. on dvla site. Check all old mot's. Make, model and mileage. If ok take chance and pay £19 for new set of documents with a 4 week lead time. If you need tax in this time your stuffed unfortunately.

Rob, The murky world....
Follow this link:

www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/

and carry out a vehicle enquiry - should reveal the status of car wrt the DVLA. As long as it is there and doesn't sound too radicaly different from what you have seen go for it!!
If you till can't get to sleep phone up Swansea and talk to someone, once they are open for collecting £ of course!)
(Check chassis number on top of passenger side strut bracket, bodynumber should be behind battery on bulk head)

I have an as yet untested theory
if it is a q reg then it has been registered with the DVLA as a car of indeterminate vintage in this case a kit car - why when doing that would someone not register it as a Jago?
i cant see them putting escort after going to the hassle of registering it [but thats untested]
I can however see that if the car has kept the donor vehicles identity that some lazy owners may have continued using the donor cars v5 without change - there have been some examples of this within the club and on ebay
another little thought - what does it say on tax disc?
they put manufacturer on the disc?
