06 997 C4S - lack of use/age related maintenance.

My 2006 C4S is subject of an uncontested Public liability insurance claim against a garage that botched the install of front struts(another story). To cut a long story short she has been off the road since Dec (not helped by covid) and is being repaired at a Porsche approved repairer.

I am extremely concerned about accepting the maintenance risks that may of occurred due to the age of the vehicle and its unforeseen 9 months lack of use. Especially as all components will of been sat caked with road salt etc. Having had this car over 10 years I know full well when its not used and sits, expensive things break!

As such I have asked for a full service on this vehicle to help mitigate this risk is there anything in particular that I should additionally look out for/ have inspected? to reduce this risk to me moving forward?

When did it it last have an oil change? If the oil was changed in 2019 then just take it out for a nice long drive, get a heat cycle through everything and get the battery all charged up. If the battery was old (4 yrs or more) it may need replacing, but charge it up, drive the car and see how it goes. If the brake fluid has been in 2 years or more,then replace that too. Other than that,start it up, fill it with V power and don't come home until it's empty.

Interesting ? I’ve got an 06 997.1 C4S that’s covered less than 3K miles in the last 5 years.

I parked it up last October and didn’t start it until June, it basically sat there on trickle for 8 months. The car doesn’t cost me a penny except for fuel, burns no oil and nothing ever breaks. What is it that has let you down thro lack of use ?

Iv’e done less than 300 miles Since June but will be changing the engine oil next week as it’s been in 12 months. I use this in my daily as fresh oil, being as there’s almost 9 litres I can change the oil twice in that so using the old oil saves me money in effect. I changed the gearbox oil and front diff oil in July and fitted RSS engine mounts. Apart from what I invent it doesn’t need anything replacing.
