Have you or someone you know ever had something happen that you’d think ‘That’s gotta be made up or the plot of a film’

For instance my late mother in law was brought up in an orphanage in the North of Scotland. Nothing new there you might think?

However her father was a church minister and he used to drink and beat the crap out of his wife. Eventually he found another woman.

What he did was throw his wife literally out onto the street in the clothes she was wearing. Bundle his kids into a cart and distribute them around various orphanages around the country.

My wife’s mother often recalled the story of being told she was going to a party in a big house and never being picked up.

Sad but unfortunately a true story.

When I was at school a "friend" was always telling us about how great his parents new Datsun Cherry was. He used to regale with details of all the fabulous features it had including automatic indicators which came on for you when you turned the corner. Actually, there are a few cars nowadays that seem to have that feature.

Kid at school - "I used to jump out of planes and get shot at with real bullets" (he was in the air cadets).

He was a complete as it turned out, as well as a bull stter.

Well.. I have posted this in another thread... but - what the heck.

My mum invited around one of her best friends for Christmas dinner.
She is circa 70 and lives in the body of a 6ft + male tank - and soap doesn't quite reach as far as it should.
But believes that all men that look at her are mentally undressing her.

About 10 minutes in - she pipes up... she has invited her ex boyfriend ( she wants to get back together ).... ( now we know him - but.... an unexpected guest from Christmas dinner... )

Another 30 minutes...the ex boyfriend arrives. ( He is early 60's )

And next to him is his current boyfriend ( He is early 20's )

And to boot - the new boyfriend has brought his guitar.

So... another uninvited guest....

Trying to sit down at the table for dinner was something to witness.
This is a table that seats 6. 4 at the sides. 1 each at the end.

Lady best friend wants to sit next to ex boyfriend.
Ex Boyfriend does not want to get back together.... he keeps changing chairs to get away from her.
Ex Boyfriend wants to sit next to current boyfriend.

After 5 minutes... a soln is apparently accepted.

As I am carving the turkey the ex boyfriend pipes up "Don't you think Hitler had the right idea on gassing the Jews"

Cue a long pause.

"If Hitler had his way - you would be first in the oven"

Over the food...
Ex Girlfriend is trying to play footsie with ex boyfriend ( It is a glass table... everyone can see )
Ex Boyfriend is moving legs like an Irish dancer to avoid ex girlfriend.
Ex Boyfriend is waxing lyrical about new Boyfriend.

Ex Boyfriend decides to raise the anti - by deciding that the English are the anti-christ and laying into them..... ( My wife is English )
Despite the rather blunt messages of seriously STFU.... he pushes it one to far..... and my wife leaves the rooms in tears,

Ex Boyfriend is escorted to the door - and he can call for his own taxi.
New Boyfriend doesn't have a lift home ( He was a nice guy actually. ) - But has made clear he is dumping Ex Boyfriend
Girlfriend is still in love with Ex Boyfriend and thinks she has a chance - now New Boyfriend is off the scene.

Worst Christmas ever.

Aside from the wife in tears part that sounds like the most entertaining Christmas Dinner in the history of the world.

I know it's not wise to lower yourself to a scum bags level but my reply to the Hitler being right about the Jews part of that would've been considerably less polite than yours was.

I would have slung him out on his ear at the first mention of Hitler. Like seriously, who the hell talks about Hitler whilst having Christmas dinner?

Why not? Why would Hitler be barred from being discussed? You might have kids doing GCSE history who discuss what they are doing, over Xmas dinner, Or you might be going to watch the Great Escape in the afternoon so the conversation moves on to the war and on to Hitler. Seems very odd that you'd sling someone out of your home for the very mention of Hitler at Christmas dinner?

Now someone supporting Hitler would be out on their ear at Xmas dinner, Easter lunch, or just over a cheese sandwich in October. In fact, food wouldn't have to be involved at all.

If you were having a Sunday dinner with some mates or family at your house, and one of them out of the blue says that Hitler was correct to gas people, wouldn't you want to kick that person out of your home?

My father tells a similar tale when he was four and his sister six. Mum takes them for a holiday in the country. They wake up the next morning and mum nowhere to be seen. He isn't sure how long they were in the house for before the next door neighbour hears the crying but thinks it was a couple of days. Father is called home from the war to sort it out. He tells them mum isn't coming back and they are then billeted to two different places in the country. He goes back to war.
They are then bought up by two different families and never see each other again.

I think it was a different world back then but very sad.

Errrr....yes. Which is what I said in my post. confused

In your home, would it be OK to say Hitler was right to gas people, so long as it wasn't said over Sunday lunch! So basically, you think it's ok to support Hitler, but just not when you're eating. You bloody Nazi!
