Canon Camera Problem
Discussion
I have a Canon SX420 IS bridge camera , and it has suffered the "blue screen of death" only it is white , no amount of button pressing will reset it , Canon online help were unable to help , suggesting back to base .
As the camera is over 4 yrs old , likely costing more than the camera is worth .
Anyone had a similar fault occur and resolved it .
I can see me just using the phone from now on if it costs too much to repair .

Have you tried taking out the batteries and the SD card for a few minutes?
BTW, you might have been better off posting your question in the photography and video sub-forum!
This was my initial thought. Let it drain it's memory completely then restart.BTW, you might have been better off posting your question in the photography and video sub-forum!
I do feel your pain as I inherited a nice Nikon D90 from my late dad, which I let tumble to the ground from about two feet. Nikon wanted pretty much the camera value to repair.
Yes I have done a hard reset ,I feel it may be a Hardwear problem , I can see a faint image in the white as though camera has the brightness of the screen full up ,
Re different forum , having given it thought ,I felt a technical problem as opposed to photographic ,the thread would have been moved anyway ,admin move in strange ways

Update time
Having nothing to loose ,my son , an electronic engineer working for *** **** dismantled the camera and found a dry joint on the ribbon cable joining the LCD screen to the works of the camera , once re seated the camera came back to life
Canon invoice
Dismantle camera found damaged LCD screen
Replace damaged screen £90 parts , £50 labour
Test and recalibrate camera , fixed cost £70
Return package and insurance £10
Total £220
Replacement camera would have been around £160
Actual cost
1 Beer £0.75 ( import French)
Result don’t you think !

Excellent.
I did the same (albeit on a smaller scale) with my eldest's calculator. Unscrew, solder the cable back on, assemble and off we go.

Makes you wonder how many other Canon SX420 IS bridge cameras are suffering from the same dry joint issue though?
As for the French beer, it could have been worse and been a virtual one!
